Delanson- Beatrice Konwisarz-Smith, of Rotterdam and formerly of Duanesburg passed away on Sunday June 11, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Manhattan, NYC on April 19, 1921 the daughter of the late Anthony and Jenny Lacko Basile. She was educated in the NYC school system.
Beatrice came to the local area in 1969.  She owned and operated Kathy’s Restaurant and Motel on Route 20, Duanesburg until 2001 when she retired and moved to Rotterdam.
Betty was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church Delanson.  She greatly enjoyed bingo, going to the casinos, traveling, knitting, and cooking. But her favorite pastime was to be with family and friends especially her grandchildren. Betty was a kind and generous person who was a caretaker for many people.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Harry) Christie, her son-in-law John Appel, her grandchildren Patricia Appel, John Appel, Kerri (Kevin) McDonnell, Dottie (Edgar) Carey, Shane (Melissa) Konwisarz, Jennifer (Pearl) Randio, and Kerri (Ernest) Farreny and 11 great grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her first husband Stanley Konwisarz, her second husband James Smith Jr, her son Michael Konwisarz and her daughter Barbara Appel and her grandson Michael Anthony  (Carrie) Konwisarz Jr.
Family and friends are invited to call at the White VanBuren Funeral Home 1779 Main Street Delanson on Wednesday June 14, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church Alexander Road Delanson. Interment will be in Grove Cemetery Quaker Street Delanson. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made to Animal Protective Foundation 53 Maple Avenue Scotia NY 12302
