Peter John Cooper

Esperance -Peter John Cooper, passed away on September 30, 2017 in Amsterdam NY following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 65.

Peter was born in Rockville Center NY to his parents Frank and Frances Cooper. Peter successfully pursued an education in Respiratory Care while living in California, after becoming a Respiratory Therapist, he returned to NY and over the years worked at multiple hospitals in both Long Island and Upstate NY areas. Peter decided to change career paths and obtained his degree from SUNY Cobleskill in the Information Technology . Peter retired from the Northeastern Regional Information Center (NERIC) which partners with seven BOCES to provide advanced technology services to 137 school districts. Peter also loved photography and music; he has photographed and been  the DJ at many weddings and special occasions for family and friends. Peter was quite the handyman, starting in his teens working on his family home to building his home in Esperance. He was always willing to help anyone who needed a little fixing, whether it was your computer or your home.

Peter is survived by his siblings , Walter ( Ellen) Cooper, Ann Williams, Theresa (John) Auletta, Grace (Ralph) Bertelle, Gregory (Michele) Cooper and Veronica Fry. His stepchildren Stephen (Brenda) Lammers, Laura Motta and Erik (Casey) Cooper  along with longstanding cherished friend Georgia Van Dyke and many grandchildren, great grandchildren ,nieces , nephews and cousins. He was predeceased in death by his father Frank, his mother Frances brother Frank Jr. and sister Ellen.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 5, 2017 from 6 pm to 8pm at the White VanBuren Funeral Home 1779 Main Street Delanson NY. Funeral services will be held at 11 am  on Friday October 6 , 2017 at the Gallupville Evangelical Lutheran Church Gallupville NY. Reverend Peter J. DeBartolo will officiate.

Calling hours will be held from 9 am to 11 am at the church  prior to the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers , memorial contributions may be made in Peter’s memory to Community Hospice Montgomery County NY 246 Manny Corners Road Amsterdam NY 12010.
