I was saddened to hear of Seymour's passing. He was always a straightforward person who called it as it was. His sense of humor, even during hard times, always helped everyone cope with life. He will be sorely missed. He is in a better place now.

DEAR FAMILY OF SEYMOUR VANDER VEEN,
I THINK YOU ALL ARE A LUCKY BUNCH TO HAVE HAD HIM AS YOUR
PATRIACH.  I DIDN'T KNOW HIM PERSONALLY, BUT FELT OF HIS SPIRIT
FROM READING HIS BOOK. HE WAS A MAN I COULD LOVE AND TOTALY
RESPECT.  THIS MAY SOUND STRANGE TO YOU, BUT I KNOW HE WAS
ONE OF THE GREAT SONS (SPIRITUAL) OF GOD BEFORE HE WAS SENT
TO EARTH AND LIVED THE WAY HEAVENLY FATHER WANTED HIM TO.
SO, DON'T BE SAD BUT REJOICE YOU WERE RELATED TO HIM IN THIS
LIFE.  NO CONDOLENCES FROM ME.

Dear family,

Dear family, we wish you a lot of strength to bear this loss.
This song always offers us and our friends support in difficult times.

Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

With love, Cor, Germa, Jorik en Nikai Maring

I only knew Seymour for a short period of time and I am learning just how little I knew of him.  Knowing Seymour has caused me to appreciate more how God blesses us through our farming community.  I have come to appreciate his sense of humor and how much love and concern he has for his family,  It is interesting how close to a stranger I was to Seymour, and yet how I have come to love him as a brother in Christ.

I have been navigating some turbulent waters in my life as of late.  Although I was near to a stranger to Seymour, he took time out of his life to attend to my needs.  I will never forget how God used Seymour for my sake and I look forward to seeing him again.

What a wonderful obituary and what a wonderful life.  Seymour touched my life in so many ways, as helper, friend and giver of faith when my kids and I needed it most.  You are so blessed to have had him as a Father to guide you.  Blessings to you all.
