Bonnie Elbrecht

Duanesburg - Yvonne (Bonnie) (Dubreuil) Elbrecht, 92 years old, recently of Kingsway Arms, formerly of Duanesburg, has gone to be with God and her husband, Jim.   They were married May 9, 1948 at St. John the Baptist church in Yonkers, and had enjoyed 67 years of marriage when he departed in 2015.  She is survived by 4 children; Barbara (Dan) Thomas of Duanesburg, James (Patricia) Elbrecht Jr., of Niskayuna, Thomas (Denise) Elbrecht of Middleburgh and Susan (Stephen) Kantz of Corning, NY,  7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Yvonne was born May 29, 1926 in Yonkers, NY, the only child of Joseph and Helen (Minehan) Dubreuil.  She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers,  then Columbia Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School.  She was a Registered Nurse for 30 years.   Worked  private duty for a time, then became Duanesburg Central Elementary School nurse, and ‘lunch-room’ lady through the 60’s and 70’s.

Bonnie was a longtime volunteer at the Delanson Senior Meal-site, and the Red Cross Bloodmobile.     She was also in the Quaker Street Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for years.

She was a Communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Delanson, NY for over 60 years.    Also a communicant of St. Paul The Apostle whose Eucharistic Minister brought her communion while at the Kingsway Community.    Bonnie was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima’s Rosary Altar Society.

 ‘Bonnie’ was strong willed, and opinionated, but always had a kind word and some laughter at the tip of her tongue.    While we mourn her loss in our lives, I am reminded of her words, repeated throughout our lives; ‘The best way to honor the dead is to take care of the living.’

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her memorial Mass of Christian Burial, commencing at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1735 Alexander Rd., Delanson. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the mass from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Procession will follow to Saratoga National Cemetery, where inurnment will take place.
