Christopher M. Mattas

Sloansville - Christopher M. Mattas, 63, of Sloansville, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Born in Amsterdam, Christopher as the son of the late David and Margaret Birch Mattas.  Chris graduated from Amsterdam High School and served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1977.

Chris was employed as a Foreman for the NYS Department of Transportation for 27 years retiring in 2006. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Duanesburg and loved going to auctions.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Rose Hodgkins Mattas, his sons, Christopher M. Mattas Jr, Matthew Mattas and Nicholas Mattas and daughters, Lynn (Jeffrey) Parker, Rebecca Shufelt and Amanda Shufelt, two brothers, Randy (Kathy) Mattas and David Mattas Jr., 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, 2- 4 pm at the White-Van Buren Funeral, 1779 Main St. in Delanson.

Funeral services will begin on Monday, 12 noon at the funeral home.

Burial, with military honors, will follow the service at Esperance Cemetery.
