Edward J. Schleier Obituary

Delanson- Edward J. Schleier, 80, passed away on Sunday, November 21. Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert and Georgina (Lautenbacher) Schleier.

After graduating high school, Ed would go on to work at Sealtest R&D Dairy Lab in the 60’s, was an inspector at the Yankees Milk Farm, and then a truck driver for several years until retiring from the Tri County Bottled Gas Company in 2002. Ed was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing in the summers. He loved his tractors and cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Ed was a member of the Helderberg Rod & Gun Club, the Delanson Scribblers Historical Society, Little League coach in the early 70’s, the President of the Delanson Fire Department in the early 70’s, and a member of the Hudson Mohawk Chapter Pioneer Gas Engine Association of Schoharie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Shaver Schleier, his sons; Jeffrey (Deborah) Schleier and Jonathan (Kristine) Schleier, his stepson Christopher Ingalls, his stepdaughter Heather Lafayette, his granddaughter Kristen Schleier, his grandsons; Zachary Schleier, William Lafayette and Patrick Lafayette, his brother Robert (Josephina) Schleier, his sister Georgina Costello, and many loving nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
