Duanesburg – John T. “Jack” Mikus, 94, passed away on Thursday, September 13th, 2018.
Born in Schenectady on February 28th, 1924, Jack was the son of the late John and Marianna (Stefanski) Mikus. He graduated from Duanesburg Union Free School in 1941.
Jack enlisted in the Army Air Corp at age 17 where he served as a radio gunner in World War II.
He married his wife of 68 years, Kathleen (Madden) Mikus who Jack termed “a hell of a woman” on June 10th, 1950.
Jack retired from General Electric as a rail traffic specialist in 1987 with 30 plus years of service.
Besides his devoted wife, Kathleen Mikus, Jack leaves behind 3 sons, Richard (Marlene) Mikus of Newark, DE, Bob (Michele) Mikus of Duanesburg, and Donald (Donna) Mikus of Esperance, 7 grandchildren, Richard John (Michelle) Mikus of Wilmington, DE, Jason Mikus of Esperance, John P. (Debbie) Mikus of Newark, DE, John R. (Heather) Mikus, Patrick (Nina Menzies) Mikus, Christina (Matt) Norris and Mark Mikus, all of Duanesburg. Jack also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren, Jacks Norris, Lily, Layla, Maddy, and Abigail Mikus.
By Jack’s request, there will be no viewing or services.
Memorial contributions in Jack’s memory may be made to the Duanesburg Ambulance Corps. or Fire Department.
Jack’s family would like to give a special thanks to Jim Pneuman for so often being there and their niece, Peggy Paniccia for always being there.
