Delanson – Richard F. Hoffmann, 79, passed away Thursday June 2, 2022, doing what he loved best, cutting hay on his beloved JD 4020. Born in Delanson, he was the son of Fritz and Augusta Hoffmann. A lifelong resident and graduate of Duanesburg schools, Richard was passionate about agriculture and farming. Taking over the farm in the early 60s with his wife Maggie, he was proud to be recognized as a “Dairy of Distinction”. Richard spent his entire life advocating for farmers, be it through time spent as a Regional Director for the National Farmers Organization or representing his beloved John Deere equipment at KC Canary, Inc. He never turned down a cold beer or cigar, he knew more back roads then Siri, he was our original GPS. Had more crazy stories and sayings that his grandsons enjoyed, even though most likely they were slightly embellished. Richard enjoyed weekly lunches with his brother, Werner, and early mornings at Stewart’s solving world problems with our locals.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 34 years, Maggie. Survived by his daughters Irene (Florida) and Christina (Christopher) Cornelius, Brother Werner (Carole) Hoffmann of Delanson, Grandchildren, Dale Jr, Raynette (Justin), Ryan, Gregory and Dominic. Great Grandchildren, Olivia and Colton. Niece and Nephews,
Andy, Jeffrey and Lori. And many friends.
A special thank you to those first responders from Duanesburg, Delanson, Quaker Street, and Rotterdam who helped Richard - EMS, fire departments, and law enforcement.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 10-12 noon at White-Van Buren Funeral Home 1779 Main St., Delanson.
A 12 noon prayer service will immediately follow.
Burial will be in Grove cemetery, Delanson.
