Town of Florida – Rick A. Strohm, 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home after fighting a brief illness on Sunday, November 7th, 2021.
Rick was born in Shelby, OH and was the son of the late Weldon Strohm and Elizabeth Didion Strohm.
He graduated from Plymouth High School in Ohio and went on to attend the Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music, where he met his beloved wife, Joan V. Sanders.
Rick honorably served his country in the US Air Force.
He had a long career at several banks as a loan specialist, most recently working at SEFCU in Schenectady until his retirement on March 23rd, 2018 after 19 years of service. He was a wonderful man - patient, kind, caring and very competent, and he was a favorite of SEFCU members and coworkers.
In Rick’s spare time he enjoyed visiting US National Parks- he and Joan had visited 40 parks together. He also enjoyed camping.
Rick’s faith was very important to him. He was an elder and speaker at Bellevue Gospel Chapel and was an avid student of the Bible.
Spending time with his family was his favorite thing, especially spending time playing with his granddaughters whom he adored.
Rick leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Joan V. Sanders Strohm; his children, Jedediah Strohm (Miriam), Heather Ibragimova (Azamat), Nathan Strohm (Pam), Tabitha Strohm (Bryan), Zachariah Strohm, Derrinda Strohm, Ethan Strohm and Larissa Strohm; his grandchildren, Natalie Strohm and Maryam, Janelle and Rahilya Ibragimova. He also leaves behind his sisters, Judy Risner (Darryl Runkle) and Peggy Howard (Dane) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Rick was predeceased by his siblings, Sally Jo Strohm, Terrance Strohm, Randall Strohm, Rodney Strohm, and Butch Strohm.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 11am at Grove Cemetery, Quaker Street, Delanson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 21st at 3pm at Northway Bible Chapel located at the corner of Moe and Par Del Rio Roads in Clifton Park.
