Robert “Bob” Clute died peacefully at Ellis Hospital on February 13, 2018 in Schenectady, NY at the age of 77.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years Susan Walker Clute of Ballston Lake, NY, his sons William Clute of Paxton, MA and James Clute of Concord, NH, his brother Richard Clute of Pawleys Island, SC, his daughters-in-law Kateri Clute and Sharon Clute, and his grandsons Matthew and Michael Clute.
Bob was born on October 4, 1940 in White Plains, NY to Harry and Alice Clute. He graduated from Ardsley High School in 1958 and Syracuse University in 1962 with a degree in Business Administration. While at Syracuse, Bob was an active member of the ROTC program and enjoyed his social and service time with his Sigma Nu fraternity brothers. Bob married Susan Walker, his college sweetheart in 1962. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving as a captain in South Korea. After returning from overseas, Bob continued working for Liberty Mutual Insurance as a claims adjuster. He then moved to Clifton Park, NY and was employed with Merrill Lynch as a financial consultant. The couple welcomed their 2 children into their home and they remember him as a driven and kind father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Bob had an extraordinary talent at working with people to help them reach their potential. He was a generous individual who loved playing golf, maintaining his property, and who was passionate about the stock market. He volunteered at the local American Legion and enjoyed working with senior citizens with financial planning.
A funeral will take place this spring in Esperance, NY. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Animal Protective Foundation at 53 Maple Ave, Scotia, NY 12302. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Ingersoll Place in Niskayuna, NY for their dedicated and personal care for Bob during his time of need.
